Leaves for the Village – A Journey to Rebuild a Loving Home in the Forests of Nam Trà My


Deep in the lush green forests of Nam Trà My, Quảng Nam, lies a small village called Lâng Loan, home to the Xơ Đăng ethnic people who live in harmony with nature. At the heart of this village once stood Nhà Quật – a communal house made of bamboo panels, forest vines, and palm leaves. It was the soul of the village. But over time, the thatched roof deteriorated, the structure weakened after countless storms. A piece of the village's memory and community seemed on the verge of being lost. Then came the campaign “Leaves for the Village” – a symbolic bridge that connected thousands of hearts from all over, coming together to rebuild this beloved home – not just with materials, but with love and empathy.

Nhà Quật – More Than a House, It’s the Village’s Heartbeat


To the Xơ Đăng community, Nhà Quật is far more than a structure. It is where traditional festivals are celebrated, literacy classes are held for children, and where elders gather to share stories of the land and forest. It is collective memory, a sacred space that connects people to their ancestors, to nature – and to one another.

The decay of Nhà Quật also marked the fading of a vibrant culture.

Leaves for the Village – When Tiny Leaves Come Together to Form a Shelter


Initiated by Nhà Chống Lũ and supported in communications by GDL JSC, the campaign called on the community to contribute "tiny leaves" – each act of kindness, every share, every donation – to come together and rebuild a “big roof” in the heart of the forest.

Campaign Results:

  • Total funds raised: 15,300,000 VNDConverted into:

    • 84 rolls of forest vine rope

    • 55 bundles of palm leaves

    • 14 bamboo panel frames

    • 2 bamboo flooring units

Outreach Channels:The campaign was rolled out through 4 strategic posts across GDL JSC's community ecosystem:

  • Ở Nhà Vui Thấy Bà! community

  • Ghiền Đà Lạt community

  • Ghiền Đà Nẵng community

  • Reached nearly 500,000 users
